Did anyone else hear the Fifth Trumpet Blast when sadam lit oil wells on fire?

That was no trumpet, it was the what should I do retard farting.Did anyone else hear the Fifth Trumpet Blast when sadam lit oil wells on fire?
This was just asked last week. Nobody heard anything. Not even Saddam!Did anyone else hear the Fifth Trumpet Blast when sadam lit oil wells on fire?
It is interesting that Saddam fit the ';type'; of Antichrist - and looking at Daniel, we know that after this type goes down (which he has) then we are to look at Medio Persia, or, modern day Iran, plus the middlelands, which are terrorist-occupied. Very, very interesting. We are sure damn close, aren't we?!!!
Funny enough I did hear trumpet blasts but not when the oil wells were lit up. It was last May in the middle of the night for a couple of weeks, then nothing since.
Nope.
I didn't, but I would be interested in your experience that led to these thoughts.

What are the ways to improve heat rate of an oil fired power plant?

How can we improve heat rate of a regenerative reheat oil fired power plant? like variable speed drives....etc etcWhat are the ways to improve heat rate of an oil fired power plant?
What type of oil fired plant are you refering to steam boiler/turbine or combustion turbine used in either the simple cycle or combined cycle mode. For a steam cycle, and without considering the practicality, one can add feedwater heaters, replace the turbine or install more efficient internals, increase steam pressure/temperature, better burners, more efficient motors, install variable speed drives on the bigger fan (forced draft, induced draft) motors, better insulation.

Not sure how to do this.

Some additional thoughts.

  • Could the oil sand of canada catch fire?

My impression is that there is so much sand in it, that even if a bit catches fire, it does not spread very much. The huge mechanical shovels used to extract the tar sands glow red hot from the friction, and this does not cause fires that spread. And they have been extracting oil from tar sands for years and years now, in huge projects.Could the oil sand of canada catch fire?
If it has Oil in it then yes

Why do oil rigs have those fires on top?

I've always wondered why oil rig things have those fires on top. Does it serve some purpose or is that just what happens when they strike oil?Why do oil rigs have those fires on top?
In all such installations i.e. oil rigs, refineries etc dealing with flammable natural gases[CH4,C3H8,C4H10 etc],there are chances that mixture of these with air may produce explosion on exposure to a ignition source. To mitigate the risk of explosion the mixture of them in limited quantity %26amp; in controlled condition kept to burn regularly , as a burning mixture can not explode. Why do oil rigs have those fires on top?
the oil refining process has many byproducts, many of them aren麓t of any use. The combustion of an organic component results in carbon dioxide plus water, which are far healthier for the enviroment than the oil gases... so fire them up baby!!
It burns natural gas that is also mixed in with crude oil in deposits. If they didn't burn it, it could fill up the area around the drilling deck and explode.
Im pretty sure it is there to burn the natural gas it gathers when getting oil.

Gas or oil fired water heaters in garagesmust be what so that the gasoline vapors are not ignited?

Lifted off the floor. But from a scientific point of view, this is nonsense; although gasoline vapor is heavier than air, in time it will mix uniformly with air, so it could be ignited from a spark at any point or height.

Gas or oil fired water heaters in garages must be ___ so that gasoline vapors are not ignited?

    a. 18 inches above the garage slab

    b. insulated

    c. 18 inches below grade

    d. tested weeklyGas or oil fired water heaters in garages must be ___ so that gasoline vapors are not ignited?
    a. Gasoline vapor is heavier than air and collects in highly combustible pockets. Every gas station fire fire you have ever witnessed on the evening news was caused by this..Gas or oil fired water heaters in garages must be ___ so that gasoline vapors are not ignited?
    a
    a
b, insulated, there must be an area between the gas or oil and the tank in which it directly sits in. This I believe is because of pressure of fumes or something.

How did Red Addair put out all those Kuwait oil rig fires?

http://www.redadair.com/kuwait.htmlHow did Red Addair put out all those Kuwait oil rig fires?
He didn't! It was mostly done by some guys out of Red Derr Alberta who extinguished more fires than anybody else. I believe they may have been with FireMasters.

Fires are put out in a number of ways but mostly by snuffing out the Oxygen to any fire by using explosives at the wellhead. Once the heat is gone, the ';liquid'; stream can be more easily handled and new wellhead equipment can be installed. How did Red Addair put out all those Kuwait oil rig fires?
His crew blew them out. They used explosives such as Nitro. The small bombs were lowed over the burning well on long poles flooded with thousands of gallon of water, once in place they were detonated. I got to meet Red Addair and his crew at the Boat races in Austin Texas back in 1966.
Are you sure it was Red Addair, if so he must be about 120 years of age by now!

  • If Iraq can set fire on oil, can Brazil set fire on Amazonia?

If Brazil can destroy the world, why can Brazil not join the UNO council? If Iraq can set fire on oil, can Brazil set fire on Amazonia?
Ok, if we put fire on the Amazon Forest the first ones that would suffer would be ourselfes.

Anyway, the Security Council will never change, no one wants to divide their power. And the Security Council countries are not the only ones in the world that have nuclear power. If Iraq can set fire on oil, can Brazil set fire on Amazonia?
Iraq and Brazil are alike because they would rather destroy themselves then invite big business in and then nationalize them to give their own people a future to be proud of? Your logic escapes me. If you need an example, look at Watts in the Los Angeles area, they chased all the non-black business out by burning them out and then wondered why nobody rebuilt or came back with lower prices for their business. Its just not wise to seek to attract wealth by destroying what was freely given to you. Oh, and global warming cannot be stopped or speeded up by any action mankind takes.
You have wrongly categorize your question to religion and spiritually. It should be categirized on Government.

You should have asked this question if you want to be categorize it in religion:

';Will religion allow Iraq to set fire on oil, and will it also allow Brazil to set fire on Amazonians';?

    jtm
    Are you a nut?
There's a sci-fi novel where the Brazilians become very wealthy in the near future. In the scenario, they receive money from other countries to NOT torch the forest, because planetary survival is at stake. Because the ecosystem becomes so screwed, their Amazon forest becomes an asset. To wit: if you pay us $20 billion a year, we wont torch it. I thought the whole scenario to be quite humorous within the setting of the novel.

The TRUTH about Global Warming, however, is not a fairy tale or funny in the slightest.

Have just remove the glass and filter from my efr 40 single fuel line oil boiler and now it wont fire up.?

This boiler was working fine until i decided to remoe the oil glass and filter to clean them.I filled up the glass and the 2 pipes leading to the pump but after around 20 seconds the motor cuts out so , assume i have created an air lock which needs bleeding. This sytsem has only one pipe coming from the fuel tank which has 2000 litres of fuel in it.HELP !!!!Have just remove the glass and filter from my efr 40 single fuel line oil boiler and now it wont fire up.?
Did you fill the filter before installing?

You should have a bleeder on the pump. ';Crack'; the bleeder and reset the pump. When it starts to fire close the bleeder.

Why is 'excess' gas burned up as fire in an oil rig?

It may be uneconomic to put in a gas pipeline to recover the gas or at least most of it. In some regions gas recovery is mandatory (for environmental reasons) irrespective of economics.

Notwithstanding the above some gas will always be wasted and needs to be burnt off. There are a number of reasons for this:

1 The raw gas may contain impurities such as H2S and CO2 which needs to be separated and the processes produce a tail gas which cannot be used as a fuel because of toxicity/corrosion problems and needs to be flared (although in the North Sea there is one platform where a stream rich in CO2 is reinjected underground)

2 To comply with safety standards process pressure equipment must have pressure control systems and pressure safety relief valves and relieved gas must be disposed of via a flare system. This is the only way to safely engineer such a system to cope with events such as emergency shutdown or equipment or control system failure.

2 A flare system normally requires a small flow of gas to keep it purged (no air egress) and to maintain the flame for when it may be needed for larger flows. Why is 'excess' gas burned up as fire in an oil rig?
Because it's relatively impure and the flow is uneven. There's likely no natural gas pipeline nearby. Purifying it and getting it into a pipeline requires work and money. Cheaper and easier to burn it.

Money is often the answer to: Why don't they....?

It's one small way we could improve our energy efficiency, though. Why is 'excess' gas burned up as fire in an oil rig?
The excess gas is burned off on an oil rig as the quickest way to both relieve pressure to prent an underground or underwater explosion and to just get rid of the gas with flame.

Oil rigs have been around since about 1865 and their design and tradition developed when the concept of 'recycling' hadn't caught on. The 'tradition' of burning off gas on a rig still continues.

put the lid on it don't throw water on it, it will spread the fire!If oil is suddenly on fire when your mother is cooking in the kitchen, what should you do?
you should have a fire blanket to throw over it this would smother the flame , failling that a towel teatowel anything that will smother it,

    otherwise get out fast
turn off the stove and cover the pan with any cooking pan. or turn off the stove, place the pan on the floor and cover it with a thick blanket. fire is gone.
you should buy a fire extinguisher, made for grease or oil fires they usually contain a foam substance, which is what the fire dept calls for.
Like Rupe said, put a lid on it..if it spreads, get you and your mom outside and just call 911...that stuff is routine for them but lifesaving for the rest of us

Throw a wet towel over it and then let it cool down before cleaning.

Baking soda and flour cause too much smoke damage!
put a lid over it if you can and smother the flame, or have a fire extinguisher handy........call 911
turn off the gas stove and cover the fire with a wet blanket or towel.

According to the Bible the “End Times” Should Have ALREADY Occurred!

Jesus and his apostles made MANY prophecies concerning the Armageddon. Christians would have you believe that it shall come as “a thief in the night”. Yet, the Bible is rather clear concerning when it would happen. Matter of fact, the Bible consistently said it would follow soon after Jesus’ death. When you point out such verses to Christians they will try to weasel it out of it by saying Christ was talking about his “future” apostles versus the ones he was directly speaking to. All it takes is a close examinations of the pronouns used in order to see that Christ truly did believe the end times would have happened nearly 2,000 years ago. Keep in mind that the Bible claims it is “fit for reproof’ and Christianity “lives and dies on the resurrection and end times”. If we are to believe these verses and accept that the end time prophecies failed then surely the whole book is invalid.

    False Prophecies About the Armageddon:

    Jesus’ Predictions:

    1) Jesus falsely prophesies DIRECTLY to the high priest (Caiphas) that he would live to see his second coming. Jesus uses the term “coming on the clouds of heaven”. This clearly negates the “coming” as the resurrection but as a return to the earth on CLOUDS, not his return in human form from the dead. Matthew 26:64 %26amp; Mark 14:62.

';But I tell you: From now on you will see 'the Son of Man seated at the right hand of the Power' and 'coming on the clouds of heaven.''; (Matthew 26:64 NAB)

Then Jesus answered, ';I am; and 'you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of the Power and coming with the clouds of heaven.''; (Mark 14:62 NAB)

    2) Jesus mistakenly tells his followers that he will return and establish his kingdom within their lifetime. Matthew 23:36 %26amp; 24:34

Amen, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation. (Matthew 23:36 NAB)

';Immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming upon the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he will send out his angels with a trumpet blast, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other. ';Learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see all these things, know that he is near, at the gates. Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. (Matthew 24:29-35 NAB)

    3) YET AGAIN, Jesus claims those standing RIGHT BEFORE HIM shall see the Armageddon. Matthew 16:28 “There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.” Don’t let Christians lie to you and claim Jesus was referring to his modern day believers. The words “some standing HERE will not taste death” clearly refutes such nonsense. Obviously the people he was speaking to died, and curiously Jesus STILL isn’t here to claim his kingdom.

    4) Jesus falsely prophesies that the end of the world will come within his listeners’ lifetimes.

Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. (Mark 13:30-31 NAB)

He also said to them, ';Amen, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see that the kingdom of God has come in power.'; (Mark 9:1 NAB)

    5) Jesus falsely predicts that some of his listeners would live to see him return and establish the kingdom of God.

';Truly I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God.'; (Luke 9:27 NAB)

    6) Jesus implies that he will return to earth during the lifetime of John. (John 21:22)

    7) Jesus says that all that he describes (his return, signs in the sun, moon, wars, stars, etc.) will occur within the lifetime of his listeners. He purposely defines their generation and NOT a future one. Considering that NONE of those signs took place during the resurrection and that he uses the term of “Heaven and earth shall pass away”, Clearly Jesus is prophesizing that nearly 2,000 years ago Armageddon SHOULD have occurred. Luke 21:25-33

';There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars, and on earth nations will be in dismay, perplexed by the roaring of the sea and the waves. People will die of fright in anticipation of what is coming upon the world, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. But when these signs begin to happen, stand erect and raise your heads because your redemption is at hand.'; He taught them a lesson. ';Consider the fig tree and all the other trees. When their buds burst open, you see for yourselves and know that summer is now near; in the same way, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near. Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. (Luke 21:25-33 NAB)

[Editor's note: Matthew 10:23 also has Jesus telling his disciples that the second coming will occur before the disciples finish preaching in Israel: ';When they persecute you in one town, flee to another. Amen, I say to you, you will not finish the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.'; (Matthew 10:23 NAB)]

    John’s Predictions

    8) John believes “the time is at hand,” and that the things that he writes about in Revelation will “shortly come to pass.” Revelations 1:1-3

    9) John quotes Jesus (1900 years ago) as saying he will come “quickly.” Revelations 22:7, 12 %26amp; 20

    10) John thinks he is living in “the last times.” He “knows” this because he sees so many antichrists around. 1 John 2:18

    11) John says that the antichrist was already present at the time 1 John was written. 1 John 4:3

    12) John quotes Jesus (1900 years ago) as saying he will come “quickly.” Revelations 3:11, 22:7, 12 %26amp; 20

    Paul’s Predictions

    13) Paul thought that the end was near and that Jesus would return soon after he wrote these words. Philippians 4:5

    14) Paul believes he is living in the “last days.” Hebrews 1:2

    15) Paul believed that Jesus would come “in a little while, and will not tarry.” Hebrews 10:37

    16) In 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 Paul stated: “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: And the dead Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air: And so shall we ever be with the Lord.” Paul shared the delusion, taught by Jesus, in that he expected to be snatched up bodily into heaven with other saints then living, who would, thus, never taste death. The use of “we” clearly proves as much. It is difficult to deny that Paul was certain that the end of the world was coming in the lifetime of his contemporaries.

    Other Prophecies About Armageddon:

    17) James thought that Jesus would return soon. James 5:8

    18) Peter wrongly believed that he was living in the “last times” and that “the end of all things is at hand.” 1 Peter 1:20 %26amp; 4:7

I am having trouble getting my head round this question. Is it your intention to go into the boiler servicing business, and you need to know where to buy parts.? If I were you I would go to a training establishment and learn how to service boilers FIRST. The people there would know where to buy parts in your locality.

I saw a movie as a child (70's?) where some prison inmates used dynamite to blow up an oil rig fire.?

It is NOT THE one with John Wayne; I've seen that one several times. The prisoners drove three trucks with leaky dynomite (nitroglycerine) crates that were packed into sand in the bed of the trucks. I remember the trucks having to drive across a rickety old rope and wood bridge. I guess prisoners were used because they didn't care if they were killed. The dynomite was to be used to blow up a huge oil rig fire. I used to think it was called ';Damnation Alley'; but that is a totally different movie. How much co2 does a standard industrial oil fired boiler emmitt compared to a wood pellet boiler?

It is not just how much CO2 is emitted but where the Carbon came from. In wood pellets or other biomass, the Carbon has been fixed from atmosphere during the growth of the plant in very recent time. In fossil oil the Carbon was fixed from plant life millenia ago and thus burning fossil fuel releases C that has been locked up for ages. How much co2 does a standard industrial oil fired boiler emmitt compared to a wood pellet boiler?
As mentioned elsewhere to do a comprehensive comparison you need to factor in the co2 used in production of the fuel.

my guess is the co2 per kg of fuel will be at a rough estimation approximately the same. Wood pellet's will be lighter than fuel oil, so for a given fuelling rate the wood pellet will produce less co2.

Given two boilers identical in all respects other than output power, the smaller will produce least co2. To be fair we really need to consider the boilers efficiency in the compassion's. The efficiency measures how much useful power is produced per unit of energy in the fuel. The greater the efficiency the less power is wasted, so less fuel has to burnt to produce a stated output power. (reducing C02 per unit fuel burnt)

A boiler which is 10kw and 50% eefficient will produce the same amount of C02 as a (ideal/theoretical) boiler of 20kw and 100% efficiency.

To do a comparison of C02 release between a number of boilers (using data which you'd probably be able to get hold of fairly easily) you need the calorific value of the fuel (kJ/kg), useful power output (kW), and the boiler's efficiency. If you know the chemical composition of the fuel the co2 released can be calculated (kg C02/ kg fuel), otherwise you'll need to get look this value up.

fuelling rate [kg/s] = useful power [kW] / (fuel calorific value [kJ/kg] * efficiency )

Multiply the fuelling rate by the C02 released by burning the fuel to get the co2 the burner produces every second.

Controlability should really be considered. A boiler which only burns fuel when heat needed usually has a better average efficiency. Oil's generally more controllable in this area than boilers which burn solid fuel. Gas is most controllable (many on-peak electric plants, use gas turbines, despite lower peak efficiencies, because they can be turned on/off faster than coal/nuclear power stations. This prevents power being wasted, which equates to a better efficiency, lower overheads, and possibly cheaper electricity )How much co2 does a standard industrial oil fired boiler emmitt compared to a wood pellet boiler?

OIl fired boiler for baseboard heating and electric hot water heater for hot water - any way to save money?

About all you can do, without going through the expense of converting to gas, is to make sure your thermostats are set properly to avoid using more energy than you really need to. The water tank should be set between 120F and 140F measured at the faucet. And your area thermostats should be set at a minimum temperature that you are comfortable with.OIl fired boiler for baseboard heating and electric hot water heater for hot water - any way to save money?
If you plan to keep both of those, insulation is the best way to save money.

Insulate the water tank and the pipes from it for 5'.

Turn the temp on the water heater as low as you can tolerate.

Insulate your attic as much as you can, upgrade your windows if they are not good thermopanes, add heavy curtains or cellular blinds, weatherstrip your doors, insulate attic access, insulate sill boxes in basement, insulate perimeter of foundation with at least an inch of foam to 2' below grade.

One other ';trick'; is to provide outside air for your boiler so the air it uses for combustion doesn't have to be pulled through every window/outlet/door and sidewall in the house. By putting a pvc pipe to the outside, with the outlet close to the boiler air intake, you can reduce the drafty feeling in the house, and less warm air is going up the chimney because it is pulling in outside air directly. A motorized damper on that air inlet is best, that opens when the boiler turns on.

However, if the oil boiler is older...think seriously about replacing it with a gas boiler. The difference in efficiency, and the use of ';direct vent'; makes a huge difference.OIl fired boiler for baseboard heating and electric hot water heater for hot water - any way to save money?
i have the same set up as you, except cast iron radiators. our biggest expense is the electric hot water, since it keeps the water hot 24/7, when we only need it 6-8 hours a day. when the water heater goes we will be converting to a system where the oil furnace will make the hot water. find out if your furnace has the capability to make your hot water when you have it serviced. the replacement will be a holding tank that has a coil for making hot water from the furnace. it is kind of like having a radiator in it and the water that heats it is circulated from the furnace. and the other benefit is the furnace won't be shut down for 8 months of the year. due to chimney design in this old house, the furnace tends to soot up. our furnace is about 20-25 years old and runs at about 82-84% efficiency, new ones run between 90-95% and have this hot water package built in them. we were quoted about $5,000. to replace the furnace with this system, everything new except the oil tank, here in CT. hope this helps and gives you some ideas. good luck.

If you had fire for oil and blood for money HMMMM whacha doin boy with alll that damn LIQOUR THAN?

The overnight success of his debut album, The Slim Shady LP, literally rocked the rap world, making him one of the biggest music success stories of 1999. But Eminem is more than the latest rap artist to blow up. He's spent the last several years paying his dues, and his lyrics, which cover topics such as poverty and single parenthood, reflect a rough upbringing. His unlikely acceptance by the pop mainstream has made some wonder how his popularity will affect the future of hip-hop music.

Before he had the world singing along to ';My Name Is 鈥?'; he was Marshall Mathers, a poor kid growing up in Warren, Mich. ';It's like the real, stereotypical, trailer park, white trash,'; Eminem told Rap Pages earlier this year. As a child, he and his mother moved constantly, staying at relatives' homes in places as disparate as Warren and Kansas City, Mo.

Could the oil sand of canada catch fire?

My impression is that there is so much sand in it, that even if a bit catches fire, it does not spread very much. The huge mechanical shovels used to extract the tar sands glow red hot from the friction, and this does not cause fires that spread. And they have been extracting oil from tar sands for years and years now, in huge projects.Could the oil sand of canada catch fire?
If it has Oil in it then yes

quite possibly you really need to get an oil burner

Anyone replace their oil or gas fired home furnace with a dual fuel (wood/oil or gas/oil) unit?

My dad is planning to replace his oil-fired furnace. Someone had mentioned to him the existence of a dual fueled unit, one that can use wood or oil. He has a good amount of firewood available, so, the only cost associated with it would be harvesting the dead wood and splitting it.

Does anyone have any experience with such a unit? How well does it heat when using wood vs. using oil? Can you run it for extended periods on oil (say, if you are on vacation for a few weeks)? Compared to replacing with an oil-only unit, would a dual-fuel unit have a positive, negative or no effect on the value of the home (ie. is having a dual fueled unit viewed negatively by potential buyers, since he is also considering putting his house on the market in another year or two)?

Thanks!Anyone replace their oil or gas fired home furnace with a dual fuel (wood/oil or gas/oil) unit?
Dual fuel furnaces are very inefficient when using the oil or gas burners and can be a maintenance problem for these components. Some where poorly designed and when throwing wood in you could do damage to the burner chamber for the oil and gas side and one I worked on the oil burner was below the wood door so it was often damaged when wood fell on it.If you are going to burn mostly wood and only oil once in a while and the oil burner is up high and out of the way of the wood it might be a good choice. If not you are going to burn a lot of oil compared to a single fuel furnace.I would say to install a wood furnace next to an oil furnace but that would require a second chimney because a duel fuel furnace is the only way to burn wood and oil in one chimney by code.Anyone replace their oil or gas fired home furnace with a dual fuel (wood/oil or gas/oil) unit?
My parents actually did just the opposite. when they bought the house it had a gas fired furnace that burned wood OR coal. you would load the wood or coal, and then the gas would light the wood. it was very efficient, especially with the coal, but very messy shoveling coal. when the wood burned out, the gas would continue to run as needed to keep the house warm. you could use just gas, but it was less efficient that way. as far as wood, it was actually pretty nice, it would start the fire, so you didn't even have to use anything to start the fire, just load the box full of wood and walk away...

They stopped using it b/c he was spending too much time on the road to have time to cut/split/haul wood

If Iraq can set fire on oil, can Brazil set fire on Amazonia?

How do i bleed an oil fired, forced hot water radiator?

There should be a bleeder valve on the pipe comming into the radiator. When the water is flowing thru the radiator, take a screwdriver and turn the valve to the left to loosen. You will hear air comming out. When all the air is out, water will come out (just a little) Turn valve stem to right to close.

  • Why is 'excess' gas burned up as fire in an oil rig?

Can I install an upright airflow ';A'; coil on top of a gas or oil fired furnace?

You can if there is enough space in the air plenum for the ';A'; coil you want to use.Can I install an upright airflow ';A'; coil on top of a gas or oil fired furnace?
You can if there's enough room.

You'll probably going to have to get a tin shop to fabricate something up for you, but it's doable.

    Good luck!!
get a cased coil. then you ll probably have straight plenum pieces if they were b4 the coil
Yes, but you will need to match the blower horsepower, or tonnage to the coil and condensing unit tonnage.

Whats the best temperature to keep an oil fired boiler at, stat goes from 60 to 80?

Usually not below 65 and a NO NO for 80.

You require hot water for domestic purposes so 65 is just fine.

Oil fired boilers are similar to cars, if you drive at 80 you will use more fuel than at 50 same goes for boilers

The consumption of fuel rises exponentially as you increase the temperature., so it makes good sense to keep the boiler as low as is comfortable.

How to regulatie temperture of hot water off a oil fired superior boiler furnace?

That depends on your use for the water. For household use, there are commercial mixers that will help lower the temperature. Years ago, I worked at a geothermal health resort where our water came out of the ground at 200+ degrees. We had signs up everywhere to turn on the cold water first. OUCH!!

Now they have things like this.

This is not an endorsement, as I do not know that company. It is just an example. Do a web search under water mixing valves for your location.

HWBB oil fired sys, 4 zones, 1zone no heat, have bled system, works for short time then no heat again.?

I'm betting that there is some sort of obstruction that is preventing the hot water from flowing through the inoperative zone. When you bleed the system, whatever it is is moving around, but once the system starts up again it re-obstructs the system.

I'm an engineer, and familiar with but have never worked on a hot water baseboard system. Perhaps someone with more hands-on experience will have a better answer for you.

    Good luck.

We now heat with wood stove, but oil fired water baseboard heat pipes are freezing.?

What are our best options? I think we should put in a boiler bypass system with a seperate pump to circulate the water during cold weather. Drain the pipes, but winter summer hook-up needs water in pipes? We now heat with wood stove, but oil fired water baseboard heat pipes are freezing.?
introduce glycol to the heating system. Glycol is an anti freeze. You only need a 30% mixture. We now heat with wood stove, but oil fired water baseboard heat pipes are freezing.?
First you need a pump. A small electric pump or one that is operated by a drill with garden hoes fittings. Then 2 pieces of washing machine hose. Get 5 gallon bucket of glycol . And yes, the drain is the place to introduce the glycol. cool first, and open a relief valve to let any air out. Report Abuse

Me I am going to be a smart guy and run a 20% anti freez solution in the pipes. I mean straight water will always freeze. I am assuming you are referring to a wood fired outdoor boiler????

    Good Luck!
moving water is harder to freeze, but it will freeze if it gets cold enough. If you drain the water, you have solved the problem
You have a good idea but for now, fire up the boiler to stop the freezing, this summer look into something more substantial.
Try RV antifreeze into your water system. It is nontoxic like automotive antifreeze and won't kill you or your pets when drained out. Wal-Mart sells it and any RV dealer will have it, too, if they have a parts department.

When u light a candle or a wick in oil, what stops the oil or wax (flammable) from catching fire?

The wick is made to contain the flame

and the oil or wax would need much higher temperature

than created in the oil candle or wax candle.

http://www.religiousmall.com/oil_candles鈥?/a>When u light a candle or a wick in oil, what stops the oil or wax (flammable) from catching fire?
It's not hot enough,Sariyu. A candle or oil lamp is a gas factory; capillary action draws the liquid up the wick where the heat from the burning gas vaporizes the liquid, and the heat from the burning gas causes the gas produced to ignite. Try this: blow out a burning candle somewhere where the air is perfectly still. You will see the gas condense to a white smoke rising from the wick. If you place a burning match close to, but not touching the wick , in the stream of white vapor, (condensing wax), it will relight the candle. When u light a candle or a wick in oil, what stops the oil or wax (flammable) from catching fire?
Flash point of oil or wax is too high to catch fire. At flash point vapours are enough to ignite at particular temprture.

don't do that again. clean cold bulbs with vinegar. that'll fix it.
yeah that is not a good idea I would take the lightbulb out and throw it away.oils are hard to get off.
This is what potpourri burners are for. There are also light rings that sit on top of light bulbs. You put oil on the ring and then the ring on the light bulb.

Oils are flammable. Throw the light bulb away and try one of items I mentioned above.

Kindly 'Ol Uncle ';O'; tells a tale of oil well fire fighters in South Texas...?

Bill S. had oil wells on his South Texas ranch, a lot of them, and most were producing handsomely. One day, an electrical short took place on one of the pump motors and a tremendous explosion took place.

Where there had once been a well producing over 600 barrels of crude per day, along with recovery of natural gas, there now was a tower of white hot flames leaping over 100 feet into the air, burning thousands of dollars of precious oil every hour that went by.

Bill S. ran to his phone and called Red Adaire, world famous oil well fire fighter. He was advised that the fee would be $250,000, plus equipment rental and dynamite handling fees. Bill hung up. He was well to do, but wasn't about to spend that kind of money. He looked at national advertisement and called several companies that specialized in oil well fires. Each had the same story. Putting the fire out was cheap, what cost so much was moving men and heavy equipment thousands of miles to get to his ranch.

Bill had a brainstorm. He was mere miles from the Mexican border. He grabbed the local phone book and sure enough, there in the yellow pages, in a tiny ad, was listed ';Juan's Oil Well Fires, Extinquished Cheap';.

    Bill quickly called the number, just across the border. A quiet voice answered in somewhat broken English...';Yes, this is Juan and I put out oil well fires! Where are you at? Hokay, I can get there this afternoon and the cost will be $5000.00, plus $50.00 for gas for the truck!';

';Agreed!'; shouted Bill S. and slammed down the receiver. Out he went to the well and waited.

After about two hours, across the dry, flat dusty desert, Bill saw a swirl of dust in the distance. As the noon sun beat down on his sweating brow, he squinted into the distance and the swirl got closer and closer, headed straight for the raging fire.

When it got closer to the fire, Bill could see the truck was old and battered, but filled with equipment, shovels, explosives and was still headed rapidly toward the fire.

Bill started to become mildly concerned as the truck, with its driver and ten strong men in the bed of the truck still headed directly toward the raging inferno. Faster and faster and faster the truck went toward the fire.

Bill screamed in absolute horror, as he watched the truck roll to a stop directly on top of the raging flames. To his utter amazement, he watched as the brave, strong men quickly lept from the bed of the truck, and began to jump about in a frenzy, stomping at the roaring flames, and beating them with their hats, paunchos, gloves, and blankets.

Before Bill's incredulous eyes, he watched as the men eventually beat the fire down to a complete stop, and capped the well head.

A single man, obviously Juan, came walking over to Bill. Juan's hat was black, singed, still smouldering, his pauncho had holes in it from the terrible flames, and his boots still smoked from the heat.

    Bill grabbed his wallet and handed Juan $5000 and said ';That was the most incredible thing I have ever seen in my life. The courage, the skill, the strength, the men's abilities were were breath-taking! Hey, $5000 is a lot of money in Mexico, what will you do with it?';

';Well,'; said Juan in a laid back, easy going voice, ';Thee vary first thing I will do is get the brakes fixed on that damned truck!!!';Kindly 'Ol Uncle ';O'; tells a tale of oil well fire fighters in South Texas...?

Why is there fire/ smoke coming from oil rigs?

Apparently, it's normal for oil rigs to have fire coming out of them, as I have seen in most pictures I have seen of them, but why do they need fire coming out of them? As shown in the picture: http://www.npl.co.uk/upload/img_400/oil_rig_PENDING.jpgWhy is there fire/ smoke coming from oil rigs?
Methane gas is a by-product of the oil industry. As it is polluted by other elements like sulphur and the quantity is quite small it would not be cost effective to try to harvest it.

Safest way to deal with it is a controlled burn, which is what you see. The tall pipe is for safety purposes.

Ian MWhy is there fire/ smoke coming from oil rigs?
Some oil platforms do burn off the gas that is produced together with the oil. Many separate the gas and either re-inject it into the oil-bearing formations, or export it in separate pipelines.

Some oil platforms have only a small pilot flame; many don't even have that but an automatic ignition system.

The flare tower is still necessary; if there is an accident and the production has to be stopped then the pressure in the system is released through the burner.

Drilling rigs don't normally have flames. This only happens when they have made a new discovery and the well is production tested - these rigs don't as a rule have the facilities to store the oil and gas, so it goes over the burner.

One reason why you see the flames and smoke on all pictures is that it makes for more dramatic pictures! At least there is something that will show that there is something going on, so the press bureaus prefer these pictures even if it's not the normal situation.
Because you can't smoke on an oil rig because of the fire risk, all the smokers are forced into a tiny room with a big chimney. That is the smoke and flames you see, when they are all having a drag.
They come in contact with flammable gasses when looking for oil.

they burn it off . If they didn't , it could accumulate and suffocate or ignite.

A few questions about oil painting..fire techniques? Mediums?

I'm gonna be painting the baptism wall at my church, it's a 8' x 8' piece of sheetrock. I'm using oil paints, I've never used them before so I need all the help I can get! Most of the picture will be fire-so I'm looking for some helpful tips on how to do fire(if you have a link with some pictorial instructions that would be awesome). Also, what mediums would you recommend, if any? Do I need to put down a primer/base, or paint directly on the sheetrock? And after I'm done, what should I finish it with, something like Fixatif?A few questions about oil painting..fire techniques? Mediums?
Why are you using oil paints? The church is going to smell for weeks. I'm going to recommend a switch to acrylic paint. But since you asked---

Oil paint is full of oil. That means Yes, you do need to prime your surface extremely well, if you don't want oil seeping into the sheetrock or staining things you don't want stained. Also I assume you want the paint to actually stick to the sheetrock for a long time. So you must prime. I'd use Gesso.

The medium for oil paint is more oil. Linseed oil, or a medium like Liquin. You can use turpentine or mineral spirits to clean your brushes.

You don't ever put fixative over oil paint (or acrylic or watercolor either, for that matter). Fixative is for drawings. Oil paintings should be varnished when they are finally thoroughly dry (six months to a year). Varnishes for oil are available in art supply stores, as are mediums, thinners, and Gesso.

You should probably go to the library and check out a book of oil painting techniques before you attempt this.

As for painting fire, it's hard to advise, since I can't see your plan for the space. All I know is that in realistic painting, the flames won't look real unless they're the lightest value in the picture. Everything else has to go darker. If you're going for more stylized flames, you might be able to find some to look at on Google Images.A few questions about oil painting..fire techniques? Mediums?
When I do murals I usually use acrylics, however if your painting fire I believe oils are your best bet as they blend a lot better. I did a painting of a forest fire a couple of years ago for a forest ranger. For reference I took some photos of a campfire and painted what I saw. It worked pretty well. If you use Liquin as a painting medium (not too much of it) oils will dry much, much faster. When painting with oils you want the paint to be the consistency of warm butter. A finish coat of damar varnish will protect it, even out the colors and make them look better. And.....if you decide to use acrylics, make sure you wash your brushes frequently. If acrylic dries in your brushes you may as well kiss them good-bye. Good luck and enjoy the experience.
ok first off, you defnitely need to buy a huge can of gesso and apply it to the sheet rock. second, fire is really done with varying degree's of yellows and oranges. um an oil painting cna not be varnished until it is 6-12 months dry. and its a huge painting, so it wont need to be varnished. damnar varnish is a very bad varnish because its extremely toxic and strong and can't be thinned or removed. it also smells horribly and it darkens with age. mediums only need to be used if u wish to modify the paint. you defnitely DO NOT use a fixative on oils or acrylics, but its used for water colors to prevent disturbing the other layer.

oh yea, and i got a question. if you have never used oils before, why are you painting a holy wall in a church????

i mean you should have tons of experience in oil painting before even attempting a mural. if you are more experienced in another media such as acrylic, just use that.

murals, especcially in oils, are stuck on the wall forever!!!!
I would suggest you switch to acrylics, Oil need to be applied to something that is NOT absorbent. So you need to prime the wall with acrylic paint or gesso and sand it and reapply the gesso and sand it, etc several times. Or you could hang a large piece of canvas stretched tight and primeit with gesso.

If you have never worked it oils, they can cause you to pull you hair out. You overmix and you will get mud. And they can take weeks to dry and are not considered dry for up to 1 year or more. When they have dried they need to be varnished with an artist quality varnish (but not before 3 months of drying)

The lovely part of acrylics, brushes and tools can be wash with water (not turpentine) and the painting dries in 20-30 minutes. Don't like it, wait a minute and paint over it. I would suggest that you do a small trial run in both mediums and develope some techniques before you jump into the 8 foot job.

And you might consider doing it in sections. I frequently do a large painting but it is actually 8 different deep canvases when hung together they make one large picture, but they are easier to move because they may actually be 24 x 48 inches.
I have to agree with Helene on the acrylic paint. Although you can achieve very different styles with oils and acrylic. Oils take a really long time to dry and if ur not used to using them it can get tricky when doing touch ups if the paint is still wet. U can buy some kind of compound to mix with it that makes it dry faster... im not sure what it is tho. if ur insistent on using oils id suggest u go to an art store and ask about something like that.

Different makes of oils also have different properties. Sometimes one make wont mix very well with another. And some come out more transparent than others. So it would be advisable to prime ur surface first. It will also give u an even base coat so if u do end up with more transparent paint atleast one general under coat is there. Oh and u dont need to go out and buy a special primer from an art store, rather just use a universal undercoat from a hardware store. works just as well. (=

    enjoy ur painting

  • I have oil-fired hot water base board heating. Could I use an electric-fired boiler instead?

you have answered your own question Yes

the power of heating is not relevant to how the water is heated but the source of it,

    oil or electricity ?

one is surely less expensive to run then the other. make your choice.I have oil-fired hot water base board heating. Could I use an electric-fired boiler instead?
You could, the only thing is that I would check out the advantages of electric over oil. Such as price for oil over electric in your area. Both could be a problem such as running out of oil or an electric outage. I much prefer a gas boiler for price and less chance of failure to deliver heat when you need it.I have oil-fired hot water base board heating. Could I use an electric-fired boiler instead?
You can change to any fuel source to heat the water. check it from aspects. Call as many plumbers, heating contractors, and Mechanical Contractors that will come out and give you estimates for free.

Also, if I may suggest, look into solar heating, as it'll save fossil fuels, and you'll get a hefty tax break if you install it.
There shouldn't be a problem however I think you'll find it isn't cost effective. Using electric for heat or heating water has never been economical.
