How can i prevent a fire in my attic? Cause the wood that hav used in the trusses of the attic is oil treated.?


oil treated because it prevents termites. i live in tropical country. is there any remedy or deoiler in market, beside from removing it? the wood that im talking about is 35 years already installed in the attic. condition of the oil in the wood is dried. thanks in advance.How can i prevent a fire in my attic? Cause the wood that hav used in the trusses of the attic is oil treated.?
You would not want a fire in your attic whether the oil was on your trusses or not.


No spontaneous combustion will occur. The rate of time for the fire to ignite the wood with oil or not is not a big difference. The only possibility of the most disadvantage is, the fire may be a more difficult to extinguish.


Their are fire resistant coatings you could consider applying.


I would think the humidity is an issue as well. A coating could seal the wood from air and trap moisture. Dry rot could become your new enemy.





I would ask locals that would know some construction practice. I think they will say the same as me.How can i prevent a fire in my attic? Cause the wood that hav used in the trusses of the attic is oil treated.?
Guess if I lived there and there hadn't been an attic fire in 35 years I wouldn't worry about it too much... I'd worry more about 35 year old wiring in the house.
