I put a bottle of aromatherapy oil down on my new fireplace only to find it has left a brown stain, I didn't relise it had dripped down the side of the bottle. I have tried washing it off with hot soapy water but, to no avail. Any ideas?HELP Oil stain on bath stone fire place!?
flour and bleach mixed as a poltice, leave an hour at a time, again you may get a light patch after, then have to clean the whole thing. For the record people, stone and marble, even highly polished ones, are porous, to prevent stains, seal them with beeswax or similar, or don't put anything on them.HELP Oil stain on bath stone fire place!?
you could try a sprinkle of talc powder leave it on for a hour or so and then brush off
try baking soda dry it should draw up the oil with a wicking action
You can get products from D.I.Y. stores for cleaning oil off driveways.
Pour some dry detergent washing powder in a small heap on the stain, and leave over night.
Keep plugging away with a mild detergent.
Hello,
Not a problem..........
Get some lime putty and apply to the affected area and this will ';suck'; the stain out. Rinse off after. You may need to apply to the whole surround if it cleans the area too much! (try on unseen area if your unsure).
I believe the putty is available but only in large qty's. You can make it yourself but would suggest getting info before you try it.
