Old long house, 1 room deep by about 23 mtr long.Inside or outside oil fired boiler? What are the advantages of either?
Inside: Advantages are much easier to service, heat from boiler stays in house, if it breaks down for an extended period of time-you don't have to worry about it freezing up and cracking or using glycol to keep from freezing.
Outside: Advantages are it saves space in the house, less noise, less odor from oil or flue.
Personally, I would keep it inside so the components aren't exposed to the elements plus since I would be the one servicing it, I wouldn't want to screw around with it outside when it's 0 degrees outside.Inside or outside oil fired boiler? What are the advantages of either?
I would also keep it in apart from lower home value it would be easyer to service and more theft proof.
an out side one does not take up any room (pro), and an inside one gives off heat in the winter (pro)
listed or in a conservation area? if so speak to the council first as they may say what you can have
adv - outside saves space inside!. also there is often the faint smell of fuel oil around an oil boiler which some people really dislikeparticularly at servicing, an outside one avoids this, flue generally neater
dis - need to cut holes in building, can look ugly, weather exposure, potential to be fiddled with
inside basically the opposite of above
