I don't want to ask a dumb question, but is your addition the same square footage as the original house?
Some other causes might be;
1. poorly insulated doors/ windows/ walls in the new addition
2. poorly insulated piping in attic or crawl space of new addition
3. much colder outside temperatures this year/ last year
4. burner performance- get burner efficiency checked/ cleaned
Also- how long did the addition sit open before they got close- in. You might have been losing heat during construction causing boiler to run more.Why is my oil-fired hot water baseboard heat burning so much oil? added a third zone, furnace runs constant?
Compare outside temps between this year and last.
Make sure your t-stats are where they should be.
Do the math. You are using the same sized furnace with an additional zone!
