Does oil fired heating lower the value of a house? Will they have green taxes in the future+is it more costly?

We have seen a house which we like that was built 2 years ago but it's in a rural area and has an oil fired system. We're not sure whether to go for it as quite unfamiliar with this. Our research shows crude oil prices can be volatile and have risen 300% over last few years plus boiler maintenance is costly. Not sure whether energy efficient either. Anyone have any experiences with this? Does it put future buyers off if we were to try and sell the property?Does oil fired heating lower the value of a house? Gas prices have increased dramatically in the last few years too,and gas boilers are just as expensive to maintain and service.

All new oil boilers have to be of a certain efficiency, but that law only came into force in april 2007.The boiler fitted might be a condensing boiler and be to the current standard, make an enquiry for confirmation.

You could change the boiler to LPG if you feel it will make a difference.Does oil fired heating lower the value of a house? Will they have green taxes in the future+is it more costly?
Oil fired boilers are cost effective in a rural setting, the servicing is usually not exceeding 拢50 per year

The only time a house is devalued is if it has electric storage heaters, The reason is that they have to be removed in order to have proper central heating installed, so an identical house in the same locality will be more expensive than one with storage heaters.
If it is the country then there will not be any gas servise conected. It is very common for country houses to have oil fired. Dont worry it will be the norm so it will not devalue
If oil fired heating is the norm in the area then it won't put off future buyers. Poor maintenance of the system and the home would be more likely to cause problems. Make sure the place is properly insulated and sealed and you shouldn't have any problems.

It's common to have oil fired heating in rural areas and buyers themselves are aware (or made aware by agents) before selling. I don't think it should be a problem now or in the near future.
